Lesson Plan 3: The In-Class Portion Post-Peer Review
Objective: At this point, everybody has their online peer review feedback. In this class after taking time to read over your comments, the pairs/groups are going to meet up to make sure that everything in their comments makes sense as well as discuss together what changes they can make. This is supposed to be the wrap up of peer review for the assignment and serves as a clarification for the peer so that they can finish the final draft and get a good grade on it!

Time Estimate: 5 Minutes
Lesson Plan:
Method of Assessing the Objective: The debrief discussion will be my way of assessing the overall objective of online peer review. In terms of this specific lesson plan, me floating around the room during their meetings will be my way of assessing the objective. I will be going around to each group and make sure that they’re talking about their feedback as well as discussing ways that they can make improvements in their papers.
(NEW) Reflection: This semester, I decided to make this part a little shorter and take out the overall class discussion at the end. When I delivered this last semester, I didn't really see much engagement going longer than 2-3 minutes per person in small groups. This made sense when I was preparing for this lesson plan this semester because as long as their comments were clear, there honestly wasn't much else for the partner to talk about. I think it was helpful that this semester the students would have in-class peer review with their same partners in the class after online peer review was due. That's why I took out the class discussion at the end, because once the students were done going over their online peer review, they would then transition to do their in-class peer review. I thought that this was more effective and much smoother on our end mending the two. There weren't any difficulties with doing peer reviews because of taking out the Word Document extra upload aspect, so this portion was pretty short.
Materials Needed (Students):
- Laptops to access their peer reviews
Materials Needed (Jenna):
- Nothing
Time Estimate: 5 Minutes
Lesson Plan:
- 0:00-0:01 -- Have peer review pairs/groups get together and talk about the feedback they got as well as talk to each other about ways you’re thinking about fixing their papers with the suggestions that their peer gave them.
- 0:01-0:05 -- At this time, walk around and pop in on all the groups. Act as a resource and see how it went.
