Feedback
Here, I have included feedback that I have gotten from my students about how my learning artifact lesson plans went. These quotations were gathered from their “Mid-Late Review” homework assignment.
“The most helpful aspect of class has been peer review. Prior to ENGL101S, I strongly believed that peer review was unhelpful and a waste of time for everyone involved. However, I realized that the poor experiences I had in the past were due in part of the peer reviewers and not necessarily the process. Since this course, I found the value in peer review. More specifically, I like online peer review. Contrary to in class peer review, online peer review allows more time for me to fully concentrate on the writing. Furthermore, when I am reviewing a peer’s work outside of the classroom, I feel less pressure since I not sitting directly next to them while I revise and comment on their writing.”
“I think that the most helpful thing has been online peer review. In-class review works to an extent, but there definitely isn’t enough time to edit a full draft in an in-class session. Doing peer review in your own time lets you start and stop whenever you want, and research something you might need more information on.”
“The online peer review was incredibly helpful in improving my own writing as well as how we had drafts. Because it wasn’t all due at once I could get an idea and think about where I wanted to go with it even after I had written a few pages. Furthermore, the peer review let me see what other people were doing so I could know if I was on or off track… I feel as though the in-class peer review wasn’t the best use of time, that may be because the people who reviewed my essay did a very good job out of class.”
“I as well benefit from online peer reviews, because I receive in-depth critiques and positive comments that help me understand what I need to work more on and what is good about my essay. I don’t feel discouraged about my writing, because people leave constructive comments, not negative ones.”
